I’ve had the pleasure of viewing Anette Lawrence’s work a few times, most recently at both Dunn & Brown, as well as the CADD Art Lab. Honestly, she produces the type of art work that I just really like! I have no explanation as to why, and very little insight into her creative process or educational background. I have almost nothing to go on besides the fact that I think her stuff is cool!

Her “Free Paper” exhibit is pictured to the left, and more of her work can be viewed on her web portfolio.

Webb Gallery was born in Waxahachie, Texas in 1987. What started as a passion/obsession for old handmade items such as painted or repaired objects, fraternal lodge items, carnival banners, tramp art, memory jugs, quilts, and just killer oddball stuff became a continuous quest for the unusual.

The focus at the gallery is ever evolving while continuing with the goal to show kick ass stuff that they simply love. I applaud this gallery for staying true to it’s passion and providing a warm and comfortable atmosphere to casually enjoy very cool artwork by self-taught artists.

Enter 94 Faces of Gordon Carver.

Carver recently passed away at the age of 92, and 94 drawings of hairy faces of every expression were found covering his walls. As eery as it may seem, I just had to go see them for myself! Needless to say, viewing the collection and being able to purchase a book of all of the faces with accompanying stories was definitely worth the trip down to Waxahachie.
