If you happened to miss my reivew of the And/Or Gallery’s Show #21, go back and catch up because they’re up to bat again! Saturday, March 7 they will host the opening of Show#22: YTMND, or “You’re The Man Now Dog”.
YTMND is an internet community of users that basically create internet memes, which are splash pages of a single image with an accompanying sound loop. Yup, it’s definitely useless internet humor for the most part, but somewhere in this process art is often a very unexpected byproduct. This exhibition will present a selection of these websites in the gallery, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t intrigued.
This type of exhibit definitely isn’t for everyone, but for the rest of us that are always pushing the envelope and consider ourselves to be liberated internet “thought leaders”…this exhibit should not be overlooked. A billion reasons that this exhibit might be a FAIL surely come to mind, but keep an open mind and I think this may prove to be one of the more interesting exhibits of this gallery season.
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend the opening, but I will drop by the gallery next week to take a peek. Stay tuned for the review!
