Artist Statement by C. Kirk:

Defending Americans One Painting At A Time

DirtyPop all started in 2008 with branding designs for a poster, sticker, and t-shirt campaign. Since then it’s potential has grown into a diverse multimedia art movement with a message that everyone except maybe America’s top 10 percentile can relate to. DirtyPop was originally conceived and spearheaded by me (C.Kirk) then I decided to form a collective with a small group of handpicked individuals with backgrounds ranging in: screen-printing, painting, photography, video production, stop-motion photography, music production, sculpture, installation, Artist Representation, grant writing, event planning gallery proprietorship. DirtyPop will create a much-needed, satirical dialogue for America’s parasitic capitalist/consumer relationship that has saturated our culture for too long.

This will be the only original art work leaked until the Dirty Pop is officially here! Merchandise is now available on Zazzle.

“For me this painting is all about priorities being “Out of whack”. Of course I feel the mustached cap satire and his wheelbarrel dominate the painting but the white Exxon logo still has a presence for me.

I feel this painting says…I can’t afford to put gas in my SUV…but I must show off at least one of my rims. I’ll wear it as a bling chain to keep up appearences…even if it breaks my back…I have to uphold my status and reputation. Folks must not know I’m up to my eyeballs in dept, don’t really own anything I have, and am steadily loosing my mind due to creditor calls. At all cost….I must keep up with the Jonses. If anyone asks I’ll tell them I’m doing great!!!!!!!!!!”
